Managing work-related stress and supporting mental wellbeing across AMWS — office, yard and field. This assessment is the risk-assessment half of the commitment made in POL_HSQE_29 Mental Health; the fatigue element is assessed separately in RA_HO_18.
All AMWS work environments — Northampton Office (Unit 1), Unit 2C Stour Road, the yard, operational sites, vehicles and home working locations.

| Work-related stress from workload peaks — framework delivery, emergency call-out, and a small team carrying broad responsibility | Standing weekly Director / HSQE compliance call where workload is visible across the whole team; monthly Onyx site visit; POL_HSQE_31 Fatigue Management controls; flexible start times agreed with a Director and recorded in the individual's file | 3 | 3 | 9 | AMWS H&S Culture Survey (KPI B3) first cycle to be issued and the results reviewed by the Directors. The first cycle was targeted for 31/08/2026 and has not yet been evidenced — until it runs there is no structured measure of workforce sentiment, so the residual stays medium. Stress is also covered in the April 2027 wellbeing toolbox talk | 3 | 2 | 6 |
| No confidential external counselling route available to workers | In-house Mental Health First Aider cover — Jason May and Leanne Mason, both trained 2024; Samaritans 116 123 signposted on the card carried in every van pack; NHS Talking Therapies self-referral and the worker's own GP route (POL_HSQE_29). No Employee Assistance Programme is in place | 3 | 3 | 9 | The Directors' EAP decision is open with a target of 30/09/2026 — either enrol in a low-cost EAP, or formally record the in-house MHFA model as the adopted position with the rationale behind it. Until that decision is taken and recorded, this assessment treats AMWS as having no EAP, and the residual stays medium | 3 | 2 | 6 |
| A worker does not disclose a mental-health difficulty because of stigma | POL_HSQE_29 commits to parity between mental and physical health and to Director-led openness; either MHFA can be approached confidentially in person or by phone; signposting card in every van pack; time off for mental-health appointments treated like any other medical appointment | 3 | 2 | 6 | Wellbeing and mental health toolbox talk scheduled April 2027; MHFA refresher training due 2027 for both Jason May and Leanne Mason — book before the refresher falls due | 2 | 2 | 4 |
| Bullying, harassment or third-party harassment affecting wellbeing | POL_HSQE_05 Anti-Bullying and POL_HSQE_11 Equal Opportunities, both reissued 04/09/2026 and now citing the Worker Protection (Amendment of Equality Act 2010) Act 2023 preventative duty; POL_HSQE_27 Whistleblowing gives a protected route for raising it | 3 | 2 | 6 | The 'all reasonable steps' duty and the extension of third-party harassment liability take effect 30/10/2026. POL_HSQE_05 and POL_HSQE_11 to be revisited at that point and the sexual-harassment risk assessment refreshed (Sean Ashton, by 23/10/2026 — before the duty strengthens to "all reasonable steps" on 30/10/2026) | 2 | 2 | 4 |
| Concentrated pressure on the Site Supervisor and the Directors — key-person load in a five-person management team | Aaron Mason reviews Jason May's working hours weekly; POL_HSQE_31 and the RA_HO_18 controls; deputising arrangement tested in the May 2026 BCP desktop exercise and confirmed effective | 3 | 2 | 6 | Deputising arrangement now documented in APP_17 following the May 2026 desktop; operational fatigue controls are held in RA_HO_18 rather than duplicated here | 2 | 2 | 4 |
| Personal or financial pressure outside work affecting a worker's wellbeing at work | Directors are directly approachable in a small family-run business; signposting to the worker's GP and to Frank for substance-related concerns under POL_HSQE_02. No salary advance scheme operates — the previous version of this assessment claimed one in error | 3 | 2 | 6 | Signposting card content reviewed to add a money-advice route such as Citizens Advice or MoneyHelper (Leanne Mason, by 31/03/2027) | 2 | 2 | 4 |
Psychosocial risk is assessed with reference to ISO 45003. Referenced undated so a new edition does not force a re-issue — the editions actually held are listed in APP_02 Section 3.
This document is maintained under AMWS's continuous-compliance model. Substantive revisions are reviewed and signed off by the Directors at the standing weekly Director / HSQE compliance call (Sean Ashton, Onyx + Leanne Mason). Currency, cross-references and minor edits are checked at the monthly Onyx site visit. The annual Management Review (September) provides the strategic-level confirmation. Compliance is therefore continuous, not gated on a single annual meeting.
