COSHH Assessments

This section provides an overview of Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) assessments maintained by A M Water Services.

Overview

COSHH assessments identify hazardous substances used in the workplace, evaluate the risks they present, and specify control measures to protect employees and others. All assessments comply with the COSHH Regulations 2002.

Assessment Structure

Each COSHH assessment includes:

  • Product Identification - Name, active ingredients, physical form
  • Hazard Classification - CLP classification and hazard statements
  • Persons at Risk - Those who may be exposed
  • Control Measures - Engineering, administrative, and PPE controls
  • Storage Requirements - Safe storage conditions
  • Emergency Procedures - First aid and spillage response
  • Waste Disposal - Proper disposal methods
  • Risk Rating - Overall risk with and without controls

  9. Immediate spill clean-up
  10. Safety data sheet availability

  11. Personal Protective Equipment

  12. Nitrile gloves
  13. Safety glasses
  14. Coveralls where required
  15. Respiratory protection if needed

Safety Data Sheets

Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are maintained for all hazardous substances and are available to all personnel. Current SDS on file include documentation for all assessed substances.

Emergency Procedures

First Aid

Contact Action
Eyes Rinse with water for several minutes
Skin Wash with soap and water
Ingestion Rinse mouth, drink water, seek medical advice if unwell
Inhalation Move to fresh air

Spillage

  1. Contain spill with absorbent material
  2. Collect in appropriate container
  3. Wash area with water
  4. Dispose according to local regulations
