This section provides an overview of external audit activities at A M Water Services.
Overview¶
A M Water Services undergoes external audits to maintain ISO certifications and demonstrate compliance to customers and stakeholders. External audits are conducted by the certification body and other external parties.
Certification Body¶
Certification Body: LRQA (Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance)
LRQA conducts:
- Surveillance Audits - Annual assessments to verify ongoing compliance
- Recertification Audits - Full assessment every 3 years to renew certificates

The organisation maintains an annual audit schedule agreed with LRQA covering:
- Opening meeting and scope confirmation
- Document and record review
- Process and activity observation
- Personnel interviews
- Non-conformity identification
- Closing meeting and findings presentation
External Audit Preparation¶
A M Water Services prepares for external audits through:
Document Readiness¶
- Current versions of all controlled documents available
- Records indexed and accessible
- Evidence of implementation maintained
Staff Preparation¶
- Personnel briefed on audit scope
- Key staff available for interviews
- Examples of good practice identified
Area Preparation¶
- Work areas inspection-ready
- Equipment and PPE available
- Safety arrangements confirmed
Management Review Evidence¶
Management reviews are documented to demonstrate:
- Review of quality, environmental, and safety performance
- Analysis of audit findings and corrective actions
- Customer feedback and satisfaction analysis
- Resource provision decisions
- Continual improvement planning

In addition to certification audits, the organisation may be subject to:
- Water company supplier audits
- Client site inspections
- Scheme assessments (WIRS, etc.)
Non-Conformity Management¶
Any non-conformities raised during external audits are:
- Formally acknowledged
- Root cause analysed
- Corrective actions planned
- Evidence submitted for verification
- Close-out confirmed by auditor
