Executive Summary¶
This bulletin provides critical HSQE updates for April 2025 affecting A M Water Services Limited's operations in water infrastructure construction and self-lay schemes.
🔴 CRITICAL: NCO Water Now Mandatory¶
From 1st April 2025, all operatives working on water networks must hold valid NCO Water registration. This affects ALL our teams on: - Water main laying - Service connections - Repairs and maintenance - Self-lay schemes
Required Qualifications:¶
- EUSR SHEA Water (3-year validity)
- EUSR National Water Hygiene (3-year validity)
- NCO Water registration appropriate to role
- Total cost per worker: £500-800
Action Required: Verify all operative registrations immediately. Non-compliant workers cannot operate on water networks.
Water (Special Measures) Act 2025 - Now in Force¶
Key provisions affecting our operations: - Water companies must submit annual Pollution Incident Reduction Plans - Executives face up to 2 years imprisonment for obstructing investigations - Real-time monitoring requirements for emergency overflows - Impact on A M Water Services: Enhanced environmental compliance requirements will cascade through supply chains

Asbestos Awareness Week (1-7 April)¶
Critical for work on pre-2000 water infrastructure: - Water treatment works - Pumping stations - Administrative buildings
Remember: Asbestos still causes ~5,000 deaths annually in the UK.
Prosecution Alert: Excavation Safety¶
JHE Construction fined £16,000 after excavation collapse during septic tank installation. Worker suffered multiple fractures.
Key Lesson: All excavations over 1.5m must be properly supported or battered back - no exceptions.
